going to haiti

here's the nitty gritty: last sunday at church a guy (whose daughter is in haiti as a missionary, and is fine) said he was getting a group of medical folks together to go to haiti & work in a clinic. i, of course, was interested. i told him. and emailed him. then i got a call from a dr from church who is heading up the trip. feb 4-9. i called my boss, who gives me PTO i don't even have yet (very nice of her). tickets have been purchased. it'll be dr, two nurses, two PAs and one non-medical person. we're flying into the dominican republic & driving (read: riding) 5 hrs to the clinic in port au prince where we'll work to see as many patients as we can. it will likely be a lot of wound care & passing out antibiotics. i mean, that's what they tell me anyway. i really have no idea. i'm sure it will be like nothing i could possibly anticipate.

so here's the thing, it's expensive to go there. there's the cost of the plane ticket, room & board which includes meals, transportation and i need to take some medical supplies as well--gloves, gauze, masks, antibiotic ointment, etc. so if you want to help, here's a great way you can help. you can give some money and you can know that because of the money you give, someone can go and help people who really need it.

i know everyone really wishes they could do something to help people in haiti. i'm really thankful for the opportunity to go & try to do just that. if you'd like to give a donation to help foot the bill of being able to go, just email me & i'll give you my address.

thank you!

jason and i would like to support you. did you see the video from my pastor's trip there? a must see. link on my blog. i will commit as well, more than the money because you will certainly raise that, to be an intercessor for you in the chaos that haiti finds itself in. praying for your safety, courage, and ability to be tangibly used for real needs. isaiah 61.
