teeth and babies.
tanner went to the dentist monday. his dentist is now my dentist. my former dentist was nice enough, but his ghetto office made me fear for my life everytime i went, so tanner suggested that i switch to his dentists, dr smith & dr morrison. so i did. and i like them ok, i guess. back up, i LOVE dr morrison. i want to be her friend. haven't met dr smith yet. the hygienists are a little much if you ask me. but they do give you a giant blanket before the teeth cleaning torture begins. so at least you are warm while you are suffering. but anyway our dental visits have turned into a little bit of a competition. this began when i went for the first time, and much to my shock and dismay, got a less than satisfactory report from dental hygienist peggy. clearly she doesn't know that i have very good teeth. my old dentist forgot to tell her. to tell if your teeth are good or bad, they gouge this ice pick into your gums and "measure them". measurements 1-3 are good. 4 and 5 are bad. baaaaadddd. like, think 'smoke 2 packs a day' bad. that's what they make it sound like anyway. needless to say i had some 4s and 5s, cry me a river, and i got scolded incessantly for my lack of flossing. i am attempting to reform and can honestly say i floss 4 times a week. you do not floss that much. don't even play. but since my grim diagnosis of impending gingivitis, i honestly do. went back a few weeks later. was dental hygienist peggy happy with that flossing revolution? no. no she was not. she wants perfection from me. tanner, on the other hand, does not floss. he doesn't even own any floss. and he went to the dentist on monday and only had one 4. one. i probably have seven 4s and a 5. they love him there. they probably think he flosses twice a day. but he does not. and i might just tell them next time i'm in. i think they let him cheat. during a thrilling dental conversation, i inquired about dr smith, whom i have never met but think i might have seen. he was just in her office on monday, so i thought this would be simple enough.
staci: hey tanner is dr smith pregnant?
tanner: i dont know. she might be.
s: well, does she have a big round stomach?
t: she was pregnant a few years ago.
s: uh, yeah. i figured. she has a son.
t: so she has the ability to be pregnant.
s: what? i mean is she pregnant NOW?
t: i don't know, i didn't see her.
thank you, tanner, for clearning that up :)
in other, much less confusing news, tanner and i went to portland to meet our little sugar pirate nephew lincoln. we love him. we likely love him more than he loves us. but don't worry, we will win him over once he's able to talk and/or be bribed with candy/gifts/anything-other-than-breast-milk. i tried to upload a super cute video of him laughing, but had some technical difficulties. i'll try again, stay tuned. we also had a really fun time with jason & holli. they were very gracious hosts. i wish we lived closer to them. and we got to see the stinsons which was a nice added bonus. here are some photos for your viewing pleasure

I do own floss. It is in the little baggy that the dentist gave me for free, which is in the closet next to the little baggy that they gave me last time I went to the dentist.
i do have to say staci, i am very disappointed with your 4 and 5 pockets....you should let me clean your teeth, I would get you whipped into shape in no time!
haha, Tanner always has had the best teeth in the family and he doesn't have to do anything! Must be nice! haha...love you!
oh my gosh, what are all these numbers? i must not have been to the dentist in an extremely long time bc i have no idea what you're talking about. my dentist's office was also ghetto. like, ridiculously ghetto.
i am glad that the reality of the 4's and 5's has sunk in. there is nothing scarier than the thought of all your teeth rotting out. have you ever noticed that when you go a while without flossing, you start to have those horrible nightmares about your teeth literally rotting and crumbling out of your mouth while your gums bleed and your breath smells like 50 yr old cat urine. i'm just saying....
